february ramblings {in photos}

i don't know why but february was a crazy busy month for us. maybe it was because the kids barely had any school, with the snow days and teacher days, but i felt like i was constantly doing something. i could chalk it up to the two trips i took, the week long trip wayne took and the fact that we hosted dinners and book groups and had parties to attend. either way february flew by and we are ready for march and hopefully some warmer weather too!!

penguins

our zoo just opened a new penguin exhibit last fall and we thought that going to see them would be the perfect thing to do on our day off of school for president's day. it has been awhile since our last visit to the zoo and the kids were super excited to go.

we have the best polar bears at our zoo. they are always out and swimming and doing fun flips. they are really so fun to watch and always first on our animals to visit. 

  just memorized by the polar bears. 

  the penguins were so funny. they followed our four little people and the kids just thought this was hilarious! plus they were just so fun to watch too! 

  the new penguin exhibit was really cool and neat. the kids loved it so much that we ended up having lunch there and just watched the penguins dive and swim. 

the whole time we were at the zoo Sabrina kept asking were the gorillas were. the kansas city zoo isn't the greatest in turn of layout and getting to the gorillas is a trek along a shaking bridge, but we made the journey in hopes that the gorillas would be out.

  we walked right under a sleeping leopard along the way. 

yay! a gorilla! who knew they loved eating snow? :)

  because of the cold weather and all of the snow, not many animals were out. but it was still a super fun day and the kids enjoyed just being outside and running and climbing. plus, we always enjoy a trip to the zoo! :)
