going fishing

isn't it funny how quickly kids pick up on things and mimic the actions of their parents. like if you give two boys an old diaper box they quickly turn it into a boat and go fishing for the afternoon.

progress

Photobucket
A week ago we got to meet with Fisher's teacher, OT therapist and speech therapist to discuss the progress Fisher is making at his new school. It's no surprise that in the few short months he has been attending this school, he was already showing great progress and growth beyond our expectations. But after meeting with them, I was just floored with all of the new strengths he has developed.

Photobucket
Fisher's speech alone has improved dramatically. He is saying full sentences that are clear and easy to understand. He can express when he is hungry or needs to go potty and he is beginning to say "I" instead of talking in the third person. He makes such great eye contact now and it's quite funny, because now he makes you look at him when he is talking to you.  His social and sharing skills are so amazing too. He takes turns willingly and loves to have someone playing with him now, instead of just playing by himself.

He has grown so much and I just can't believe how fast he caught on to things. I love watching him write his name or read along in a book.  I love that he will eat everything we put on his plate at dinner or dress himself in the morning. But the biggest thing that I am so loving right now our the mornings he comes to wake me up and he looks directly in my eyes and says "I love you Mama!" I can't express in words how much that makes me feel. I honestly thought it would be a long time before I heard that from him and now he says it on his own and without prompting!!

I am so so extremely thankful for the amazing teachers and aids Fisher has been blessed with at this new school. You know, moving is hard and at times it was a struggle for us to find a new niche and balance and learn our new place. But after seeing the amazing progress and growth Fisher has made, I know that this was part of His plan for us. Fisher needed this place and honestly so did we.

almost three

Photobucket
he is almost three and insists that he no longer needs a nap. instead we have quiet time while Sabrina naps. he usually plays quietly or reads a few books, but sometimes he crawls up into our couch and falls asleep.

he is getting so big, but i love it when he reminds me that he is still so little.

my funny valentine's

Happy Valentine's Day!

Photobucket
We started this morning off by waking up daddy in bed to show him the fun valentine's we have been working on. To say he loved them was an understatement. And the kid's were so proud to show him their hand prints! (I got the idea from here).
Photobucket
We then decided to make daddy a big special valentine's breakfast. Of course we had to take a break to drink pink milk and heart shape bagels!

Photobucket
yum!!

Photobucket
And sweet Wayne surprised mommy with beautiful red roses!

Photobucket
We also thought it would be fun to make some yummy valentine's day treats. Rice krispies! A favorite here! Wayne got to take most of these to his co-workers, after the kids and i tested out a few!

Photobucket
And I am loving how these two are just becoming such good friends. They love playing together!

fire engines

we found a play group out here in kansas that we are just loving. a lot of the girls are friends i have made through book group and we all just love getting together every tuesday to play and catch up.
Photobucket
this past tuesday they planned a tour of a fire station. Chase was in heaven the whole time we were there. he was so excited to learn all about fire station and he quietly sat and listen while the fireman got dressed in his uniform and taught him fire safety.

Afterwards, the kids got to touch and feel the fire equipment to see what it looks like up close. Even Sabrina got in on the safety lesson.

But the highlight for Chase was being able to climb and sit in the firetruck. He had so much fun and talked about firetrucks the whole way home. He was so excited when the nice fireman gave him stickers and trading cards. He keeps those things proudly!

We had a lot of fun on our tour of the fire station. It was such a great experience for us all!
