A Colorado Christmas

This year we headed west to the Rockies to celebrate Christmas in Colorado. The kids were beyond excited and were packed and ready to go before anyone else. I too, was pretty darn excited to spend Christmas with my family and to be out of our house for a bit. I was ready for a change of scenery and it doesn't get much better than Colorado!

We left early Tuesday morning and made it about halfway when a snow storm hit and closed I-70. We stopped and got a nice bite to eat, did a little shopping and by the time we were all loaded in the van the roads opened. They were still a bit snowy and icy so we took our time and drove a bit slower and got to my parents house late that night.

But once we arrived, the kids found their cousins and everyone settled right in.

I truly have some of the best nieces and nephews in the world and they are just so amazing to my kids. It is so fun to watch them all just play and laugh with each other.

An Early Christmas

Since we headed out to beautiful Colorado to celebrate Christmas with my family, Santa and all of his gifts arrived early so we could celebrate here. I guess he really did enjoy all of those letters and cookies we made for him!

The night before Santa came, we did our tradition of opening one present, which always happens to be pajamas. The kids love getting new pajamas and Chase started requesting the specific kind he wanted way back in September. I think they were all pleased and so excited for all of the festivities to begin.

The kids went to bed full of excitement and ready for Santa to come, it was hard for them to stay in bed.

They compared with each other and started playing with their new toys. They all got exactly what they asked for. Fisher a new light up ball and remote control helicopter, Chase a giant Ninja Turtle and some little Ninja turtle action figures. Sabrina wanted a tent and Santa even brought her a pink My Little Pony that she just loved, and Oliver got lots and lots of trains which is all he ever wants to play with.

The kids spent the day playing with all of their new toys while Wayne went to work and I cleaned up and got us packed and ready for our trip to Colorado. It didn't quite feel like Christmas, being early and all, but the joy of the kids and the happiness they expressed was such a beautiful feeling.

A litte winter siliness

One of my most favorite sounds in the world is the laughter from my four children. I loved the day when they dug through our swimming bag to find their swim goggles. They slipped them on to make funny faces and crazy eyes and then they just laughed and laughed.

Best. Sound. Ever.

It's been so nice to take a break from the craziness and the stress of everything and just stop to laugh and smile and enjoy the simple things.

Wishing you a wonderful Christmas break. May it be everything fun and beautiful and crazy.
