watching butterflies

Lately our afternoons are filled with play-dates outside of sidewalk coloring, bubbles, playing in the water and our new favorite thing, watching the butterflies. Their favorite place to land is in our corner garden and Fisher has found the best spot to just stand there and watch them.

  Almost every time we are outside I catch him all hidden against the back fence just standing there quietly and pointing every time a little butterfly lands.

This little boy does have the most gentle and sweetest soul and is just so patient with these little creatures.

if you give a three year old a fishing pole for his birthday, he is going to want to go fishing the minute he unwraps that package.

seriously, from the moment Chase and Fisher both got their fishing poles, I have been asked everyday when are we going to go fishing. And since Wayne was gone for most of the week, the wait was pure torture for them. So Monday night I decided to pack a picnic style dinner and show Wayne our new favorite park. A park that just so happens to be on Lake Lenexa and lets everyone fish for as long as they want!

The boys were so excited to finally fish. I was amazed at how well they listened to the instructions Wayne gave them and how hard they concentrated reeling that line in. It was so fun to watch them.

They are naturals! Just like their daddy!

And poor Miss Bre so badly wanted to join in on the fishing fun. I think we will be adding a princess fishing pole to our collection soon. But we had our own fun playing in the rocks and taking walks long the bridges and paths. This place is just a beautiful place to be in.

The only thing we were able to catch that night, a tiny frog! Sabrina loved looking at that frog. This girl loves all things animals.

Even though we weren't able to catch any fish, the boys still had a blast just fishing and Wayne and I just enjoyed watching them. I have a feeling that there will be many more fun filled days of fishing ahead of us!

on turning three

wow! Three years ago our tiny little family of three quickly became a family of four when we welcomed our second little boy into the world. He was our biggest surprise but it's hard to imagine life without our Mr. Chase. From the moment we laid eyes on him and he was put into my arms the blessings just poured in. I am so proud of the little boy Chase is becoming. He is the best brother to both Fisher and Sabrina and such a great helper to me. He is full of life and humor and just so happy to be around. We love our Chase-Man!

Wayne had to leave to go out of town the weekend of Chase's birthday so we were planning on celebrating Sunday night as soon as he got back. Well, by wed. afternoon plans quickly changed and so we quickly through an impromptu birthday party for him that night. Thankfully, Chase got to eat at one of his favorite restaurants the night before at Bass Pro Shops and was still pretty happy about that!

Wayne brought home some fun balloons and surprised Chase with them. I love how kids just love balloons.

We made his favorite dinner of pb & honey, orange chips and chocolate milk. Here he is patiently waiting to open his presents.

For the past couple of weeks I have caught Chase playing "golf" around the house. It usually consist of a small football and a tiny flute, but you can hear him shouting out "get in the hole!" It's pretty funny so I thought that he needed a golf set and I found one really cheap at Walmart. Needless to say the expression on his face says it all, he was really excited to get that golf set!
  And of course every little boy needs a fishing pole! He loves his spider man fishing pole and has been asking everyday when does he get to go fishing.
  Lately Chase has this new obsession with super heroes, Spiderman and Ironman to be exact. I am not really sure how he got on this fascination but he talks about them all the time.  Luckily I was able to find some super hero cupcakes for the impromptu party. Unfortunately only one survived the car ride home.

Happy Birthday to our sweet and lovable three year old! We love you so much Chase!!

loving spring

I am going to be honest. I love winter during the months of December and January, but by the end of February, I am just begging for spring to hurry up and arrive.

We have been pretty lucky here in K.C. to have such amazing and beautiful weather since March. And we are making sure to take advantage of it while we can before the summer heat sets in.

We love taking afternoon walks through the neighborhood to see all the blossoms and flowers.


We even stop to pick of few(the yellow ones are our favorites).


And you just have to make a wish when you come across the perfect dandelion.

We love when Fisher comes home from school and is just filled with so much happiness and laughter. He always lights up our days!

And you just can't beat baths during the daytime after a fun morning of playing in the mud. Seriously, when did she start looking so big?!

And her new favorite thing to do every morning while I am getting ready is to make funny faces at her reflection.

She is just too cute!

And last year's winter boots that are way too many sizes too small are apparently a necessity to wear right now.

And we are so very blessed to have so many wonderful places to go and visit, that are close by and free! Like our favorite farmstead.

Or visiting the Arboretum to explore, dig and feed the giant fish!

Plus, we are so loving the new little one who is growing everyday and we are anxiously waiting to meet! Chase loves telling people about mama's baby. It's so very sweet!

fun filled day

My parents were in the Kansas area spending the week with my brother and his family. We were excited when they decided to plan a quick trip up to KC to check out our new home and see the kids. We only had a little time, but we made sure to show them all of our favorite places.

We definitely had to show them our favorite place in Kansas City, Deanna Rose Farmstead. It's been really fun to go so early in spring since all of the baby animals are out and about and just so fun to watch and pet.

Grandpa was such a good help in teaching the kids how to feed the animals. I think we fed every single one we could and the kids had such a blast watching all of the baby animals eat.

It's been so fun to watch Sabrina. She just adores animals and just loved watching them. The farm has become one of her  new favorite places and she gets so excited when we go!

Kansas City just got a brand new aquarium and we decided that that would be another fun place to take grandma and grandpa. It was a new experience for us all and we all had a great time! Lots of cool animals to watch and see here.

The aquarium was located downtown at the Crown Center. They had these cool fountains that they colored blue for autism awareness month and we thought that that was pretty neat.

The Crown Center is such a cool place for families. Not only does it have our new aquarium, but there is also lego land and lots of cool shops and restaurants. We decided it would be fun to take the kids to Crayola Cafe for lunch before grandma and grandpa left. It was a fun place with really yummy food!

We really enjoyed our visit with grandma and grandpa. The kids just loved having grandpa to wrestle and play with! We can't wait till they come back so we can show them more fun!!
