when it rains

We have been getting a ton of rain here lately. It's been absolutely wonderful and nice for our plants and garden(not to mention keeping the house cool too) but for a little five year old that just loves to be outside all day long... it hasn't been much fun for him.

Except now his mom lets him go play in all of the little puddles once the sun comes out.

But who cares? That's what summer and boys are for anyway!! :)

may randoms

I know I have said it before, May was a busy month for us. We had visitors and meetings and birthday parties pretty much every weekend. It was full and crazy but definitely fun!
photo 4_zps326465f4.jpg We spent a lot of days outside in the sun. Oliver just loves the grass and doesn't mind sitting in it. He just plays and watches and is so easily entertained.
photo DSC_7624copy_zps37b7b8a8.jpg Sabrina and her beloved Mickey. He goes everywhere with her and I absolutely love it!
photo DSC_7810copy_zpsf353a5e4.jpg At the beginning of the month I had a special day with just Fisher. Wayne was out of town and Fisher had a birthday party to go to and I had agreed to a photo shoot for engagement pictures that morning. I wanted Fisher to enjoy this day so I scheduled a babysitter and took him to the photo shoot with me in the morning. It just so happened to be at our favorite park so we went early so he could just run and play. He loved it and we had the entire park to ourselves.
photo DSC_7803copy_zps288ff0ef.jpg After the park and the photo shoot we went out to lunch, just the two of us, and shopping and then to his friend's birthday party. It was such a wonderful day and I miss just hanging out with just him. Wayne and I discussed how important these one on one dates are and we are making it a permanent fixture to do this with each kid once a month. So far it has been a great success!
photo 5_zpsd623095a.jpg This month we also met with Fisher's new school for kindergarten. I can't believe he is going to be in kindergarten! He is going to be integrated into our home school and in a normal and typical classroom with a para for only 3 hours out of the day. They all believe that he doesn't need a full time aid with him and he will be going full day five days a week. We are so proud of our Fisher and the HUGE accomplishments he has made. The new team at his new school seems absolutely wonderful and I know we are just going to love him but I am so going to miss the amazing staff at his pre-school. They are amazing in every single way.
photo DSC_8608copy_zpse582d410.jpg It's been a new tradition to visit the zoo the week school gets out! Hippos are one of our favorite attractions!
photo 3_zps5ea88861.jpg photo DSC_8612copy_zps9b604f14.jpg the happiest traveler!!
photo DSC_8647copy_zps74004f57.jpg Big smiles for riding the train! Another favorite at our zoo!
photo DSC_8198copy_zps19d5373a.jpg We have also been on lots of walks and trips to our favorite park, Black Hoof Park. We love having picnics and dinner there and also walking along the boardwalks in search of bullfrogs and fish.
photo 2_zpsdcb0a192.jpg You have to wear polarized sunglasses to see the fish!

when Pops and Memaw came to visit

I am way late on posting this post and getting updated on the blog! Things have been just a teeny(and by teeny I mean big of course) crazy around here. With Pre-school graduations, and parties and meetings and activities. We've been busy but oh so loving it!

Also, all these pictures are thanks to my wonderful step-mother-in-law, Lisa a.k.a Memaw. For some reason I have lost ALL of the pictures from this trip and I am so glad that she shared her wonderful photos with us to share with you!

Pops and Lisa came all the way from cold and snowy Alaska to cold and snowy Kansas City. I thought for sure this would be a warm week but of course we had a crazy spring and well it snowed May 4th just for them!

Once they arrived we headed straight down to Branson, MI because that's where we take all of our guest and because they wanted to visit one of our favorite places too!

photo DSC00188copy_zps7e9a1000.jpg Silver Dollar City. Even though it was a little chilly it made it perfect for the park. No lines, no crowds and just beautiful to walk through the park. We had a blast.
photo DSC00183copy_zpsbe8d1602.jpg photo 1_zpsce8e9e3f.jpg It was also international week so there where lots of different bands playing their local music and we were able to stop and enjoy it along the way.
photo 2_zpse5ad76a5.jpg And of course Wayne and I could ride the new and scary wooden roller coaster that has three loops and huge and terrifying drop and the only thing that keeps you in your seat is the lap bar. I should add there is nothing to hold on to either unless your husband is willing give up their hand the entire ride(thanks hunny!)
photo 3_zps31a24c91.jpg this little boy is definitely loved!
photo DSC00300copy_zps9d9a6695.jpg photo DSC00322copy_zps417bc11e.jpg photo DSC00376copy_zps66c27634.jpg After Silver Dollar City we headed over to the Branson Show Boat for dinner. It was awesome!
photo DSC00378copy_zps5828773f.jpg photo DSC00379copy_zpsa39f405d.jpg The next day we spent visiting Branson and playing at their family fun center before we headed back home to Kansas City. On Saturday I had a 5k in the early morning and it was so wonderful to have Pops and Lisa and the family there to cheer me on!
photo DSC00417copy_zps9cfb5ee0.jpg I ran it with my good friend Christy and thanks to here she help me get a new PR(personal record) 23.4 and we both got third in our age group!
photo DSC00423copy_zpsae1ca0a9.jpg Thanks Lisa for the pic!!
photo DSC00426copy_zpseb962e33.jpg Afterwards we headed to the plaza to go to Legoland and the aquarium!
photo DSC00430copy_zps9b421987.jpg photo DSC00447copy_zps73109bca.jpg downtown Kansas City completely built with legos and a few star wars characters added as well!
photo DSC00452copy_zps3f449738.jpg photo DSC00454copy_zps83e56c5a.jpg we love legoland!
photo 4_zps6667063c.jpg and we love when Pops and Memaw come to visit!!
photo DSC00539copy_zpsd2ebd1b7.jpg and of course you have to eat at Fritz while you are here! The only place where trains deliver your dinner! We had such a fun and wonderful time with Wayne's Dad and step-mom. So glad that they could come and spend a couple days with us!! Sorry the weather wasn't a little bit warmer! Next time it will be!! :)

oliver :: eight months

yum yeah, so time needs to slow down just a little bit because our baby boy is now eight months and is on the verge of crawling and moving and getting into everything.

i just want to enjoy him as a baby just a little bit longer, but everyday i love this kid more and more and he is just so awesome! seriously, that smile? melts my heart every. single. time.
photo 1_zps9f1722c9.jpg Oliver is ready to move! he crawls backwards, rolls everywhere and is starting to get up on all fours and rock. this is really happening... he is going to be mobile which is just great and all, but that seriously means that he is no longer a little baby but this sweet boy that is growing up!!
photo DSC_7666copy_zpscfb3ab4f.jpg oh but that smile and his laugh, two things that just melt my heart. he is the sweetest thing and is just so happy. he loves cuddling and he loves playing and he adores his big brother Fisher so so much. he loves the other kids too, but when he sees Fisher he just lights up and laughs and grins. it's so sweet!
photo 2_zps0ce6f4e5.jpg Oliver has also found his voice and loves to just talk and chat and scream. he just loves to scream... for fun... and then laugh.
photo 3_zps6f52f9d3.jpg seriously love, love LOVE this boy!
